Portugal (Part 3)

May 3, 2013 6:00 PM—Lisbon

Last nights dinner at our hostel was amazing, so we decided to do it again tonight. After dinner last night we also had the opportunity to play Quizzo at our hostel. It was their evening activity. The questions were quite hard but we had a lot of luck and we came in second place.

This morning we slept in a bit and then we took the free walking tour offered by our hostel. It started at about 10:30 and it was 2 and a half hours long. It was awesome! We got a lot of good information about the history and the architecture of Lisbon and we got to see a lot of places in this city we might not have gone to otherwise. After the walking tour we went down the street for lunch at a buffet.

Once we finished lunch we found the bus that took us to the other end of the city, the Belem neighborhood. We went there to go to the Monastery of Jeronimos. It was a huge building and we went in the church and the cloister. The architecture was amazing and so detailed! While we were at that end of the city we decided to also go to a local pastry shop where they are supposed to have the best custard pie. I would have to say, I was pretty impressed. Afterwards, we got the tram back to our hostel.

Tonight we are doing dinner again with the hostel, but tonight it is being held at one of the sister hostels to this one, which is about 15 minutes from here. After dinner, we are planning on attending the bar crawl offered by the hostel. Tomorrow we are heading a bit out of Lisbon to go to Sintra before catching the night train tomorrow night.
